Contribution to terrestrial head-ends

A major ongoing challenge facing terrestrial operators is conserving bandwidth, a scarce and costly resource, while delivering the highest video quality. Experience shows that by using JPEG2000 in the first stages of production high quality video can be maintained right up to the final delivery to the end user terrestrial network. JPEG2000 compression can also reduce the bitrate of the end user transmissions and thereby allow the broadcaster to launch additional TV services.
