IPTV

Telcos worldwide are currently launching IPTV services to offer a triple-play solution to their customers. One of the challenges they are facing is the low quality of existing subscriber lines, causing customers to experience low Quality of Service, which at worst manifests as a disruption to the TV signal.

To eliminate these disruptions, T-VIPS has developed a solution to insert Forward Error Correction data at the IPTV head-end. The set-top boxes connected to the head-end are then able to reconstruct lost or corrupted packets. The solution can be implemented by operators with set-tops deployed with or without Forward Error Correction support. Our solution provides better quality of service and also allows IPTV operators to increase the physical distance in the subscriber network over which IPTV services can be distributed. The solution interoperates with set-top boxes from all major vendors and is currently deployed by some of Europe’s largest IPTV operators.
