Welcome to Connector: Johnny Dolvik, CEO, T-VIPS

On behalf of my colleagues at T-VIPS I would like to welcome you to the first edition of Connector. With IBC 2006 almost upon us we felt that the time was right to introduce a newsletter to keep our customers, and the wider industry, informed of the latest developments at our company.

As we approach our 3rd IBC I am delighted with the progress that T-VIPS has made. Our industry continues to develop at an unprecedented rate and we are discovering that, in a rapidly changing marketplace there is demand for our unique combination of professional video and IT/networking expertise in areas beyond our initial specialisation of IP distribution of MPEG video.

At IBC we will be showcasing our TVG430 and TVG415 video gateways, both of which use JPEG2000 compression to maximise picture quality for contribution and distribution of video over IP. IBC will also provide the backdrop for the global launch of our cProcessor range - initially targeted at digital terrestrial and mobile operators the cProcessor family are compact and cost-effective solutions for the efficient adaptation of MPEG-2 transport streams, and facilitate the simple and cost-effective management of channels in regional bouquets.

What unifies these products is a straightforward and consistent philosophy; to provide video contribution and distribution solutions that increase flexibility and both simplify and reduce the cost of video transportation. We are well placed to achieve this - our development team is steeped in both video expertise and IT/Networking skills and knowledge. As a young company we already have an impressive list of industry firsts - the TVG430/415 was the world's first launch of a C&D solutions using JPEG2000 for HD and SD transport over IP, we were first to market with a Pro-MPEG FEC solution for SDI and the first to launch solutions for feeding DVB T/H over IP including regional filtering, clean synchronisation to modulator and SFN adaptation within the gateways

It is this kind of innovation that saw us named on influential media business website Light Reading's list of the top ten start-ups for 2006 and saw our Video Gateways range shortlisted for best fibre contribution/distribution/transport solution at the Cable & Satellite International Product of the Year Awards - to be presented at IBC.

In this first edition of Connector we take a detailed look forward to T-VIPS' involvement at IBC including an in depth look at the Video Gateway and cProssesor ranges that we will be demonstrating on our stand, there's reports on the vital role we played in bringing coverage of the Turin Winter Olympics to Norwegian sports fans and we reveal how we worked with DiviTel to design and build a state-of-the-art IP Video delivery solution for Dutch broadcaster Delta.

I'd like to finish by extending a personal invitation to those of you who are travelling to Amsterdam to come and see what T-VIPS are doing for yourselves - and to find out why Light Reading voted us one of the top ten start-ups on the planet - by visiting us on our stand (4.161) at IBC 2006.
