T-VIPS Brings World Cup to Austria in HD

In the run-up to NAB, we announced that our CP560 DVB-T2 gateway has been chosen by Austrian Broadcasting Services (ORS) to deliver live HD TV to Austria’s terrestrial viewers in Vienna. This commercial trial will be live in time for terrestrial viewers to enjoy this summer’s World Cup finals in HD.

It’s an exciting new project for ORS, the leading provider of analogue and digital broadcasting services in Austria with both state-of-the-art terrestrial networks and a reliable satellite infrastructure. ORS supports national and international radio and television producers and is currently establishing an infrastructure for mobile television.

Our CP560 DVB-T2 gateway provides a central point of control for the DVB-T2 network, enabling ORS to take advantage of the more efficient spectrum utilization promised by next-generation terrestrial broadcasting.

“We chose the T-VIPS CP560 because of its advanced technology and based on our positive experience of 100% fault-free operation with the company’s other DVB-T products. We know we can trust T-VIPS to provide us with the robust and reliable solutions we need for the launch of Austria’s HD terrestrial services,” says Norbert Grill, CTO, ORS.

He added: “I’m excited that Austria’s terrestrial viewers will be able to watch the World Cup in HD and that T-VIPS is once again helping us to provide our viewers with the best possible TV experience.”

The planned project demonstrates our close partnership with ORS and builds upon our DVB-T solutions deployed since 2007. By listening to our customers we can continue to provide them with such cutting-edge solutions and maintain great relationships. We first supplied ORS with unique DTT solutions in early 2007 and now three years later we are enabling the next wave of development with the coverage of the 2010 World Cup in HD.
